About the Artists
Anne Marie Cussack
Anne Marie is a native of Mayo. She graduated from Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) in 2009 with a BA in Art and Design. During her degree course, Anne Marie studied in Budapest, Hungry, during her erasmus year.
Anne Marie specialises in Water Colours. She is a strong drawer and has a draftsman eye. Recently she has delved into the art of 3D. Notable exhibitions include a group show in the TULCA Festival of Visual Arts.
Belinda Deutinger
Born in Erding / Germany. Living in Ireland since 1998, studied in DLIADT Dublin and Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) in Galway, graduated in 2009 with a BA in Art and Design.
Belinda has held several solo exhibitions and has taken part in group shows with KAVA (Kinvara Area Visual Arts) and Gort Arts. Belinda’s work was selected for the 195th RHA Annual Exhibition.
Belinda is known for her realistic and unique presentation style of wild life and nature scenes. She also produces 3D art work, using earthenware and other mediums. She recently studied welding and has created a few metal figures.
Diane McCabe
Diane is based in the West of Ireland. Diane is a dual Irish and UK citizen, born in Manchester, educated in Wales, she traveled west until she ran out of land and arrived in Galway Bay. Diane qualified from the Atlantic Technical University (ATU - formally Galway Mayo Institute of Technology), with a B.A. in Art and Design (2008) and a B.A.(Hons) in Fine Art (2009).
As a student Diane was twice selected to take part in the RDS student awards and travelling exhibitions - which included Rua Red Arts Center - Dublin, Regional Cultural Centre Co. Donegal, Damar House Roscrea Co. Tipperary, The Alley Arts & Conference Centre Strabane Co. Tyrone. Since qualifying, Diane has exhibited in Wexford Open Art exhibition, group exhibitions with uachtarARTS and a number of charity auctions. She held her first solo exhibition in August 2011. Diane's work was selected for a TG4 documentary - Dallamullóg. Her selected piece was exhibited in the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) Dublin.
Diane's work highlights the beauty found in repetition and unlikely places. Recurring themes are man, the man-made landscape, man-made objects and abandoned spaces. Diane works in a range of mediums, including Oil paint, prints, pen and pencil.
Eileen Ourfali
Eileen is a Connemara native and a fluent Irish speaker. Eileen graduated from Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) in 2008 with a BA in Art and Design. Elieen work was selected as the cover image for the Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) 2008 graduate show catalog.
Since qualifying, Eileen has studied in the Academy in Florence / Italy, and taken has part in several other group shows outside of 6 degrees West.
Elieen specialises in Oil painting and has a preference for still life art.
Fiona Neary
Fiona grew up in Castle Bar, Co. Mayo. She graduated from Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) in 2008 with a BA in Art and Design.
Fiona is a published author - her first book is. Fiona is currently the Co Director of the The Linenhall Arts Centre. She has also been a board member of the Galway Art Center.
Fiona has exhibited poems and pastel drawings with the 6 Degrees West group
Isbéal Nic Aoidh
Isbéal is Galway-based artist and educator. She is an Irish Speaker, she graduated from Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) with B.A (distinction) in Art and Design in 2008.
Isbéal is Galway-based visual artist and educator. She is an Irish SIsbéal specialises in figure paintings. Outside of 6 Degrees West group shows, Isbéal exhibited in Féile na Samhna Exhibition in the Rosa Parkes Gallery. She has also held a joint exhibition with her brother, Dara McGee. Isbéal frequently collaborates with schools across the West of Ireland on Creative Ireland and Arts Council Ireland projects, such as silk painting and cyanotype workshops with local students.
Kevin Neary
Kevin has a dark sense of humor, he was born in a cross-fire hurricane under a bad sign in 1971. Cast out by the peoples of Mayo many moons ago and believed to be dead he was discovered in an attic in Galway working on the 47th draft of an obscure existentialist novel.
Kevin graduated from Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) in 2009 with a BA in Art and Design. Kevin goto medium is Digital Prints, he is also a fine Oil painter and photographer.
Margaret O’Keeffe
Margaret was born in Mullingar. She graduated from Atlantic Technological University (formally GMIT) in 2008 with a BA in Art and Design.
Margaret takes her inspiration from Nature. She is often found counting moths and other wild life. Margaret is a landscape painter. She has dabbled in many mediums and in recent years has specialised in Encaustic media.
Outside of 6 Degrees West, Margaret has participated in group shows in the Galway University Hospitals Arts Corridor.
Mary Hynes
Mary Hynes was born in Cork. She moved to Galway city as a teenager as her father, who was an all year round swimmer, missed the close proximity to the sea.
Mary completed a degree in Art and Design at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology in 2009, she attended numerous other art workshops and art training courses from the age of 14. Since qualifying, Mary has trained in Art Therapy.
Mary is a natural painter, she specialises in abstract work. Mary predominantly works in the medium of oil paint and applies layer upon layer of paint to reflect the artist’s process, the journey of life. She has a particular interest in Outsider artists such as John Kingerlee, Tony O’ Malley and Eugene von Bruenchenhein.
